The Diocese of Gary is seeking to fill a joint position in its Office of Worship: Associate Director in the Office of Worship/Diocesan Music Director.

Credentials/Qualifications:
Masters or its equivalent degree/certificate in Liturgical Studies.
Masters or its equivalent degree in Music, which would include experience in conducting and keyboard.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
In collaboration with, and at the direction of the Director of the Office, the Associate supports all the operations of the Office.  These operations include Diocesan liturgies, Catechumenal concerns, formational workshops, seminars/conferences, and providing resources for parish staff and commissions.

The Associate, in the position of Diocesan Music Director, is responsible for the Diocesan Choir and its participation at all major diocesan liturgies at the Cathedral. This includes recruitment and selection of choir members, conducting the choir, instrumentalists and other matters that pertain to the maintenance and growth of the diocesan music ministry.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The salary will be decided upon education and experience in the areas mentioned.  The diocese will entertain applicants that do not have a specialty in music.  It is required that the applicant be a practicing Roman Catholic to serve in this position.

Instructs and monitors maintenance staff in general custodial tasks. Communicates on a regular basis with the appropriate people to accomplish the task.   • Work with Evangelization Board, as well as other Saint James Staff, to create and promote Eucharistic and non-Eucharistic worship opportunities (not only during regular Sunday Masses) that will attract potential new members (these worship events should be directed at groups such as University Catholic Alumni, former Saint James School Alumni, new neighborhood residents, etc.) 
  • Maintain census data base of parishioners, students and friends.
  • Reports to and works closely with the Pastor, including organizing a fundraising event to support evangelization efforts.
