Description: The Assistant Residential Dean works collaboratively with the Residential Dean in securing the safety, comfort and personal needs of Marquette's Global Studies students. The dean is responsible for attending to students' personal needs, light cleaning, mini-van driving, gardening, cooking, general repairs and maintenance. IE: Shoveling walks, changing light bulbs, planting, watering. The dean must hold a valid Indiana Drivers License license. Special considerations include the following experiences: teaching, boarding program, working with teens, bi-lingual, and other. The dean should be positive in nature, love working with teenagers, and uphold Catholic morals and values as a role model to others. Roles & Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the safety and security of all who come on campus.
  • Manage special event set up and clean-ups.
  • Manage a staff of 8-10 individuals.
  • Read blue prints, contracts, invoices and installation instructions.
  • Will manage the inventory of tools and equipment – usage, upkeeps and replacements.
  • Ensure that all certifications, licenses and inspections are up-to-date and will act immediately to fulfill deficiencies.
  • Will manage work through a coordination of work calendar, prioritized job orders and coordination with business office as it relates to availability of resources.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior managing of construction projects.
  • Understands L.E.E.D, ADA, OSHA and other guidelines for building and grounds adherence.
  • Manage an operating budget.
  • Actual experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, painting, housekeeping and safety.

St. Teresa Catholic Student Center on the campus of Valparaiso University, a Lutheran affiliated University seeks applications for a full-time Director of Campus Ministry to lead and continue the growth of our campus ministry. 

St. Teresa of Avila Students is a vibrant, welcoming Catholic community serving the students at Valparaiso University.  We empower all to reach their full potential by utilizing their God-given gifts and talents by placing them at the service of God and others.

Position responsibilities include but not limited to student outreach and recruitment, pastoral care and counseling, development of faith/justice programming (bible studies, prayer events), planning of social/service events, coordination of two spring break service trips, and oversight/management of peer ministry program and four peer ministers,  ongoing communication with community and alumni, with some development work.

Master’s Degree in theology, religious studies, pastoral ministry, or pastoral counseling required. Two to five years experience working with faith development in the young adult population preferred.  General knowledge and appreciation for other faith backgrounds and comfort with ecumenism and openness to collaboration is a plus.   The candidate must possess good communication and teamwork sills, working closely with the office staff. The candidate should be a Catholic layperson or member of a Catholic religious congregation.  This position requires evening and weekend work.

Position offers a full year annual appointment beginning in July 2014.

A master’s degree is required and a doctorate is preferred. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership position is required with a preference for school administration.
