Deacon Jaime Perea, 34, is in his final year of theology studies at Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein, Illinois. Trained as an accountant, Deacon Jaime experienced a call to the priesthood because he wanted to grow in deeper relationship with Christ. He has been involved in a variety of ministries in his home parish, St. Mary Church (East Chicago). This past summer, Deacon Jaime served at St. Mary (Griffith) and St. Ann (Black Oak) parishes. The people of those parishes recognized his prayerfulness, his pastoral sensitivity and his willingness to reach out to people on the margins. This year, Deacon Jaime’s formation will be oriented toward immediate preparation for parish priestly ministry. God willing, Jaime will be ordained to the priesthood in June of 2012.
