Tell us about your family.
The son of Daniel and Janice Edquist, I am the sixth of seven children, with four brothers and two sisters. I was raised in a strongly Catholic environment, attending St. Joseph grade school and LaPorte High School before attending Indiana University in Bloomington and Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
Where are you from, and what is your home parish?
My home parish is St. Peter in LaPorte.
What seminary do you attend, and what year are you?
I am currently studying Theology IV at Mundelein Seminary.
What is it that draws you to the possibility of priesthood?
What draws me to the priesthood, ultimately, is the desire for a deeper relationship with the Lord. It is the example of Christ, the model of all virtue and friendship with God, that encourages me to want to serve others and accompany them in their lives of faith.
Who are some of your role models?
My strongest role models have been my parents, who continue to offer their full support and encouragement in all that I do. Other influences in my vocation include many priests and seminarians who have shown me much support and a powerful witness of perseverance in the priestly vocation.
What is your favorite Scripture passage?
My favorite Scripture passage is John 10:11—> “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
