Natural Family Planning - Methods of NFP

Natural Family Planning Physicians

Sympto-Thermo Method

Sympto-Thermo Method

This method is taught by the Couple to Couple League and is based on three key signs of fertility: cervical mucus, basal body temperature and changes in the cervix. By observing and recording these signs couples can identify times of fertility or infertility.

These signs provide a cross-check by which couples can reliably determine the woman's fertile and infertile times. They are easily noticed by any woman who has learned to watch for them. It takes only a minute or two each day to record them in a mobile app, such as CycleProGo, or on a paper chart.

The method is learned through a series of 3 monthly, 2 hour classes, taught by certified CCL teachers. Classes are available onsite, virtual via computer, or from CCL’s online, self-paced course. Couples receive a comprehensive learning experience no matter which course they take.

The Creighton Model System

The Creighton Model System

The Creighton Model System (CrMS) is based upon a couple’s knowledge and understanding of their naturally-occurring phases of fertility and infertility.  The CrMS relies upon the standardized observation and charting of biological markers that are essential to a woman's health and fertility. These 'biomarkers" tell the couple when they are naturally fertile and infertile, allowing the couple to use the system either to achieve or to avoid pregnancy. These biomarkers also telegraph abnormalities in a woman's health.

The new medical science of NaProTECHNOLOGY  is equal to or of greater effectiveness than in vitro fertilization for helping infertile couples achieve pregnancy.

The teachers of the CrMS are trained allied health professionals and specifically-trained physicians have been educated to incorporate the CrMS into their medical practice.

The Billings Ovulation Method

The Billings Ovulation Method

The Billings Ovulation Method is a simple but highly effective way to precisely identify the days of fertility and infertility during a menstrual cycle of any length and in any reproductive situation. By daily observations and charting of the recognizable signs and changes of the cervical mucus, the couple is then able to use this knowledge to reliably identify the times when they are fertile and infertile. The Billings Ovulation Method was developed by two medical doctors, and it has been the subject of the most comprehensive scientific research of any method of regulating births. It has been used throughout the world for more than 50 years as an  effective and  scientific way to achieve, postpone, or avoid a pregnancy. Classes are available online.  (Couples can connect with a Fertility Coach for one-on-one follow-up)
