Bequests Made Through a Will or Trust
The most
often used method of planned giving from individuals is the use of bequests made in a
Will. A charitable bequest does not need to shortchange your loved ones. A bequest can
work double duty by helping the Diocese of Gary or an individual parish or school as well
as providing for your family.
There are several common types of charitable bequests:
- A Residual Bequest You can give the Diocese of Gary, your parish or school
whatever remains after your loved ones have received their share.
- A Percentage Bequest Giving a percentage of your estate insures that the
Diocese of Gary, your parish or school will receive the share of your estate that you
desire.
- A Specific Amount Bequest You can designate the specific dollar amount
that you wish the Diocese, parish or school to receive.
- A "Double Duty" Bequest You can establish a
Charitable Gift
Annuity in your Will. This form of gift will provide an income stream for a loved
one and help the Diocese, parish or school at the same time.
