The Diocesan Lay Ecclesial Ministry program is a four-year program that prepares lay men and women for specific roles of service and leadership in and for the Church.  Those who are accepted for the program will receive academic training in theology, and a formation that integrates personal, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral dimensions.

The Diocesan Lay Ecclesial Ministry program is a prerequisite for the Diaconate Program.

Currently there are 61 lay men and women enrolled in the Ecclesial Ministry program.  This number represents two groups. One group, meeting on Wednesday evening, is in their fourth and final year of preparation.  The second group, which meets on Tuesday evenings, is in their second year.  A new class begins every two years.

A new class will begin on Wednesday evenings in September, 2007.   The weekly classes are held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Merrillville, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. For information about the Program and application materials, contact the Program Coordinator.
