Bishop Dale J. Melczek
Bishop of Gary (website)
In
addition to shepherding the Church of Gary, Bishop
Melczek also serves as episcopal liaison to the
National Association of Catholic Chaplains, and as
chair of the USCCB Committee on the Laity. Bishop
Melczek has long been a supporter of Catholic youth
ministry.
Bishop Melczek will preside at the CYX
Closing Mass Sunday. |

Alfredo "Pepe" Flores-Carillo
Emcee
“PEPE!” Back by popular demand, Pepe serves as
conference emcee. Pepe is a veteran of diocesan
youth ministry, having served at previous TAPTs,
etc. Pepe's life was touched by Christ as a teen and
he continues his faith journey as a young adult,
leading the young adult Effeta ministry at St.
Casimir in Hammond, and as the co-chair of the
Diocese of Gary Young Adult Council. |

Jim Kerwin and The Average Church Band,

You know Jim from his music ministry at such
diocesan events as TAPT (06 & 07), Zusammen! (05), and
CYX (06 & 07). At various times throughout the weekend,
Jim will lead us in praise and worship. accompanied by
the talented performers of TACB. |

Fr.
Kevin M. is the Chaplain of St. Teresa, our host for
the weekend: CYX couldn’t happen without St. T, so
thank him! Fr. Kevin will also preside over an
unforgettable Candlelight World Youth Day service. |

Kendall Ciesemier
Kids Caring 4 Kids

After
viewing an Oprah Winfrey special about kids caring for
kids in the winter of 2004, Kendall decided that she had
to do something to help the 12 million AIDS orphans of
Africa. She began by adopting a child through World
Vision with her own annual contribution of $360. In June
2004, as Kendall faced an upcoming liver transplant, she
organized "Kids Caring 4 Kids." She was recently named
to the 2007 Chicagoans of the Year list by
Chicago Magazine. (read

Fr.
Kevin H. currently serves as the Diocesan
Coordinator of Vocations. Fr. Kevin will be present
throughout CYX. If you think God is calling you to
something special or have any questions about
religious vocations, he'd love to speak to you! |

Diocesan Youth Council
A
number of conference elements are made possible by the
hard work of the Diocesan Youth Council, including part
of the Opening Session, activities, and much of the
behind-the-scenes work! The Diocesan Youth Council is a
body of teens that gather monthly to serve as a liaison
between parish and diocesan youth ministry efforts.

Effeta Young Adult Ministry
St. Casimir, Hammond
EFFETA stands for Eucharist, Faith, Formation,
Evangelization, Traditions, Amistad. EFFETA seeks to
find Christ, love Christ, and along the way get to
know each other, have fun, and serve the community
of Saint Casimir, keeping alive the traditions of
our homelands, and starting new ones.
EFFETA will lead us in a powerful Via Crucis on
Saturday night. |

St.
Martin de Porres
Youth Group
Ss. Monica & Luke, Gary
Worship in the
African-American tradition includes a variety of
expressions of praise: through song, speech, dance, and
other ways of experiencing God's Presence. Young people
from the St. Martin de Porres Youth Group will lead CYX
participants in an engaging prayer service that embodies
praise dancing and music. |

Jordan Fetcko
St. Mary, Crown Point &
Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary, Winona, MN

Jordan
is a former CYX participant that heard God calling him!
He recently completed his first year at Immaculate Heart
of Mary Seminary. Jordan thinks young people should not
be so quick to ask themselves, "What do I want to be
when I grow up?" but rather, "What does GOD want me to
be?"
He
will serve as a CYX Staffer throughout CYX and share his
journey with us on Sunday morning. |
