Parishioners gathered for Mass in Spanish Oct. 18 at St. Francis Xavier in Lake Station. The large and vibrant assembly heard Father David Kime, pastor, remind them of the importance of their active church membership where their faith is strengthened by the Eucharist and surrounded by sacred objects.

“The saints and their images assist us and they allow us to remember the divine presence among us,” Father Kime said. “Today, my brothers and sisters, in this holy Mass, we are reminded that we should give to God what is God’s because we are already the real image of Jesus in the world. And in the statues of Christ and his saints, we see another representation of Christ among us so we may live as fully developed Christian men and women - the very image of Jesus in the world radiating the light of Christ and his love to those who need it.”
